Cinderella’s Slippers, 2018
    nabat, plinth, tripod, industrial light

Cinderella Slippers is an installation piece made by Parkas in 2018. It consists of a single slipper sculptor made out of Nabat, Persian Saffron candy, on a plinth and an industrial light on a tripod. Nabat, usually served with tea, is a saffron-flavored rock candy and a very popular souvenir from Iran. It is culturally associated with a healing power for stomach ache, cramps and spasm. The artist’s personal connection to the candy goes back to her childhood when chai-nabat , black tea with dissolved nabat in it, would miraculously cure any pain. The miracle that Parkas draws the connection to Cindrella’s fairy tale in which the slipper becomes Cinderella's savior.
